December Home Tours

December 27-28, 3-7:00 pm

Surprise Packages Great and Small

Delights can be found in packages of any size, shape or wrappings.  Key West houses – from shotguns to mansions – are like that.  Cross the threshold this holiday season and explore the wonders inside during the premier Home Tour of Old Island Restoration Foundation’s 58th season.

The tour is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, December 27 and 28, from 3pm to 7pm. Tickets are $30 in advance; $35 on tour days.  For credit card purchase, buy tickets online here or at the Oldest House (322 Duval Street). During tour hours, tickets will be sold at the featured houses – cash or check, please.

If other Holiday activities interfere, remember you are welcome to split your visits over two days and see the homes in any order.

112 HUTCHINSON LANE*
The lowly shotgun house exterior is deceptive.  The humble, albeit renovated, façade masks a just-completed, thoroughly 21st C. home that is also a tutorial on efficient space-utilization.

1209 JOHNSON STREET
Wrapped in layers of tropical plants, rustic stairway posts mark the raised entry point to an airy c. 1980’s pavilion home.  Hidden behind is a 21st C. addition and pool garden.

618 CATHOLIC LANE*
At a dead end near the cemetery, a carved gate shields an exotic garden.  The 19th C. conch cottage seems to have been transported to a Pacific island, but retained its quirky Key West character.

610 GRIFFIN LANE*
Tucked aside the lane’s end, a renovated cottage is swathed in flower beds and holiday decorations. The kaleidoscope of colors and textures continues inside and back out its many doors.  The guests house is an extra gift.

511 CAROLINE STREET, CURRY MANSION
Decked out for the holidays, this Georgian Revival confection beckons you to ascend to the broad porch – and continue upward all the way to the widow’s walk.  An astoundingly well-preserved interior features carved paneling and a collection of period antiques.  You are welcome to linger awhile in the past…and enjoy some refreshments.

*Please do not attempt to drive down these lanes.  Please park on nearby through streets.
